Mushroom Smothered Turkey Burgers
3/4 pound ground turkey
2 tablespoons Silver Palate Lime Jalapeno Grilling Sauce
1 tablespoon dry bread crumbs
1 tablespoon minced red onion
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
2 thin slices Muenster cheese, optional
1 tablespoon each vegetable oil and unsalted butter, or 2 tablespoons oil
4 ounces white mushrooms, wiped and sliced
Let's face it, ground turkey needs help to be really tempting. Our savory mushrooms and a slice of Muenster cheese--along with our seasonings in the meat - go a long way to add pizzazz. Heat broiler. Combine turkey with 1 tablespoon of the Silver Palate Lime Jalapeno Grilling Sauce, the bread crumbs, red onion, 1/2 teaspoon of the oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix just to blend. Divide into 2 patties, flattening slightly. Broil until done, about 5 minutes per side, turning once. Add cheese, if desired, for last minute of cooking. Meanwhile, heat oil and butter over medium-high heat until butter foams. Add mushrooms and sauté until they begin to wilt, stirring often. Stir in remaining tablespoon of Silver Palate Lime Jalapeno Grilling Sauce and the remaining oregano.
